Bicikleta Bike Shop and the historic community in Sanford,FL are gearing up to host an unforgettable event in honor of Florida’s Emancipation Day Celebration.

“Sanford’s Ride to Freedom,” set for May 17, 2025, will commemorate this important historical date and enrich the community about Sanford’s remarkable black historic buildings and communities. This unique event, organized to foster awareness and unity, will allow cyclists to journey through Central Florida’s rich history.

Choose between: 12 Miles – 28 Miles – 45 Miles – 60 Miles

12 Miles: Family Friendly Route. Youth ages 10 – 17 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a participating adult. Special rate for youth!

NEW THIS YEAR: Participants will explore significant historical communities, including Georgetown, Goldsboro, and, new this year, Bookertown and Midway, providing a cultural experience alongside a scenic cycling adventure. Participants will also explore the Sanford Riverwalk, the Sanford/Orlando International Airport, and more Sanford landmarks.

Every registered rider will receive a complimentary Ride to Freedom active shirt, snacks and drinks before and during rides (sag stops), and a historical celebration & lunch at Hopper’s Academy.

The bike ride event will begin & end at the Historic Hoppers Academy – back in time to join the celebration!
