Florida Emancipation Day Celebration and Garden Open House

As part of the Florida Emancipation Celebration at Hopper Academy, come check out what is planned for the Georgetown Community Garden sponsored by the Sanford Cultural Guild. 18 raised beds will be available for residents to grow vegetables, herbs, and more. Signups for garden plots will be taken, Historic Hopper Academy will be open for tours, the UCF RICHES Program will have displays, and there will be food and entertainment. The main event, of course, is the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation as was first done in Florida on May 20, 1865 on the steps of the Knott House in Tallahassee.
